Adult Programs

At Mike Neil Traditional Martial Arts we believe that developing and maintaining a sound body and mind are crucial to getting the most out of life. In our adult programs, you will experience a unique approach to self defense and exercise that benefits the body and the mind.

To strengthen your body, you will begin with a variety of endurance exercises that increase in intensity as your conditioning improves. Each student performs at their own pace and intensity within the group setting. Flexibility will be enhanced through a gradual building process of safe and easy stretching techniques. You will find that the breathing and concentration exercises sharpen your senses and improve your reflexes while allowing you to relax from the stress of daily life. This unique process of developing the body and mind is the key to increased energy, self discipline, and fitness for a longer, healthier, happier life. These qualities are also essential in recognizing and handling self defense situations, as well as mental stress.

The Mike Neil Traditional Martial Arts System
Mike Neil Traditional Martial Arts employs a complete, integrated system that will teach you the techniques you need to defend yourself intelligently in threatening situations. Martial Arts are developed with a specific scope and within a specific context. Each system, like each individual, has its own strengths and weaknesses. Kicking styles utilize the superior strength of the legs but aren't very effective on the ground. Grappling and wrestling systems are extremely effective forms of self defense, but are not practical against multiple attackers, and so on.

Our system is simply cross training in several Martial Arts styles in order to provide a balanced training program for each student. We utilize each of the self defense (fighting) ranges, and will teach you how to respond to a variety of situations such as;

  • Attacks at night.
  • Attacks by multiple opponents.
  • Attacks by assailants with a weapon.
  • Sexual Assault.
  • Personal Safety Awareness

Weapons Training

In addition to the traditional striking arts and grappling arts, the Mike Neil System includes weapons training. Weapons include the Staff, Nunchaku, Short Sword, Long Sword, Tonfa, Sai, Kama, Knife, and Escrima.

Weapons practice is beneficial for developing hand-eye coordination and control of distance as well as practical self defense against weapons.

Additional Programs

Kickboxing: This is a fitness program that utilizes the training and fighting techniques of American and Thai Kickboxing for improved cardiovascular and muscular conditioning.

Personal Safety: Martial Arts systems are integrated with practical applications for a variety of self defense scenarios. Training is customized for the unique needs of women, children, men and teens. 

Yoga: This adult fitness program is designed to improve flexibility, muscle tone, range of motion and circulation. Taught in a dynamic format, this class appeals to men and women at a variety of fitness levels.
